Aubusson-Savonnerie Rugs
This ivory ground and delicate floral ornaments of this second Empire carpet make it seem even bigger than its already ample scale. Huge whirlpool spirals fill he corners and flow into long leafy vines with attached floral sprays. The center is a layered nearly circular medallion within an oval shape composed of more leafy vines. The narrow border is broken at the corners and along the sides by acanthus elements. The carpet is light and expansive and it belongs in a sunny space with French doors opening to a wide porch overlooking a formal garden.
Vacuum your rug frequently and use a vacuum which uses suction and does not have bristles. If possible, set vacuum to low power setting and vacuum the rug up and down and do not use a back-and-forth motion.
If possible, rotate the rug every few years to allow foot traffic to be spread evenly and shade the rug from direct sunlight to avoid fading in areas.
A rug pad is recommended on all surfaces to prevent slipping and stop marking if on floors with grooves or lines. Professional cleaning is recommended every two or three years.
