Introduction To Programing & Processing Custom Rugs
Did You Know We Can - Make a Rug in Your Own Design, Size, Texture and Colors
A custom rug is a made-to-order piece designed specifically for your space. Each rug is created to your size, color palette, shape, design, material, and weaving technique, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind work of craftsmanship.
At Lavender Oriental Carpets, we keep the process simple and collaborative. We begin by designing the rug to your dimensions, shape, and colors and present you with a CAD. Once Cad approved we create a sample, before weaving begins, you review and approve the samples, so every detail reflects your vision.
If you are looking to match an existing interior or draw inspiration from a particular design style, our custom rug program allows us to translate those ideas into a bespoke piece tailored to your room and lifestyle.
Clients can review the design through CAD renderings, strike-offs, and color poms, ensuring complete confidence before production begins.
How the Custom Rug Process Work

Color Approval –
Review and approve a curated selection of color poms to finalize the exact palette of the rug. These physical samples allow one to see and feel the yarn colors in real life, ensuring accuracy beyond what can be achieved on a screen. One can evaluate how each tone interacts with the space, lighting conditions, and surrounding furnishings—where the aim is for a harmonious blend or a more striking contrast.
Custom size, Custom color, Custom design.
Created using selected fabric for us to match the wool to create the rug. For this special order a 2' × 3' small rug sample will be made for approval.

Using fabrics makes the process simpler and reduces the process for the client, because colors are matched to the fabric direct.
Because it is custom made one can order in silk, cotton, linen, viscose blend plus limited indoor-outdoor fabrics.

Custom Rug Concept – Hexagonal Lattice Design
This bespoke rug is centered around a striking geometric lattice composed of interlocking hexagonal forms, creating a rhythm of structure and movement across the surface. The design offers a refined architectural presence—balanced, modern, and visually engaging—while maintaining a timeless sensibility suitable for both contemporary and transitional interiors.
The field is grounded in a rich wool background, chosen for its durability, softness, and ability to anchor the design with a natural, understated elegance. Layered over this foundation, the hexagonal motif is articulated in a curated blend of blues, hand-selected to create subtle variation and depth. These tonal shifts bring the pattern to life, allowing the geometry to feel dynamic rather than rigid.
To elevate the design further, silk is introduced within the hexagonal framework. The silk highlights catch the light beautifully, offering a gentle luminosity that contrasts with the matte wool background. This interplay of texture enhances the visual dimension of the rug without overwhelming the overall composition.
The rug is hand-knotted with a uniform pile height of approximately 1/4 inch, ensuring a smooth, even surface throughout. This low, consistent pile reinforces the clean lines of the design and provides a sophisticated, tailored finish underfoot—ideal for both aesthetic clarity and practical use.
The result is a highly refined custom piece that combines precision craftsmanship with thoughtful material contrast, delivering a rug that is both visually compelling and quietly luxurious.

Measurements & Brief –
Share your room size, furniture layout, and how the space will be used
Begin by sharing your room dimensions along with how the space is arranged and used day to day. Include overall measurements, key furniture placement, traffic flow, and any architectural details that may affect the layout. Also consider whether the room is formal or casual, and if it’s high-traffic or used occasionally, as this helps guide both design and durability. Next, we review your preferred style, design, texture, material, quality, and color palette, and then we begin the process.
