Vintage Subdued Persian Meshad Rug 9'7 x 16'6. The buff field displays a focused pattern of a multitude of various palmettes, rosettes, flowering vines, botehs and floating leaves. Light blue cartouches delineate the four field corners. The pattern radiates from a small central rosette giving the impression of an allover design, although the individual elements defer to and are not cut by the border frame. The midnight blue border, with panels of lighter blue abrash continues the general style with more botehs and palmettes. The buff background gives the carpet a lightness and airiness prized by contemporary decorators. Although the field is well filled, there is no sense of busyness or over elaboration. The pattern moves and flows easily, the elements gently jostling.
